MSc in Informatics Engineering earns the ABET accreditation

The MSc in Informatics Engineering of ISEP has been accredited by the Accreditation Commission of ABET, the global accreditor of college and university programmes in applied and natural science, computing, engineering and engineering technology.

ABET accreditation assures that programmes meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies, and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.

“We are very proud for the news of accreditation. We are the first institution in Portugal with a MSc which has been recognised by the most important and demanding international accreditation in the field. This accreditation represents a huge recognition of the work developed by ISEP, but also a commitment with ABET, the academic community and, above all, our students to maintain excellence in the engineering education”, says João Rocha, president of ISEP.

Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programmes in the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.

Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students’ experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at programme curricula, faculty, facilities and institutional support and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.

ABET is a nonprofit, non-governmental organization recognised by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). It currently accredits 3709 programs at over 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries.

ISEP is a trademark of engineering education and innovation. Since 1852, we have been pioneering the training and specialisation of engineers with a strong creative and entrepreneurial mind-set.
