Last Friday, 10 April, the inauguration ceremony of the new presidency of Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) took place. Roque Brandão was elected as the institution’s new President, marking the beginning of a term committed to strengthening the school’s academic and scientific excellence.
Roque Brandão has been a faculty member at ISEP since 2001 and brings extensive experience in management roles. Over the years, he has made significant contributions to research, teaching, and institutional development, standing out for his commitment to educating engineers prepared to meet future challenges.
“Assuming the Presidency of ISEP is a great honour. But above all, it is a responsibility towards this 174-year-old institution. Towards its people. And towards the future we must build,” stated Roque Brandão.
As priorities for his term, the new President proposes “a vibrant and modern School, supported by a sustainable campus, strong governance, and a cohesive, valued, and engaged academic community. A School that combines responsibility with strategic vision, high standards with realism, and places people at the centre of institutional decision-making, recognising that faculty, researchers, students, and non-academic staff are the true drivers of the institution’s development.”
His team includes the Vice-Presidents: Professor Paulo Maio, Professor Alzira Faria, and Professor João Francisco.
