Within the scope of the Curricular Unit of Statistics and Empirical Methods for Computing (ANADI), part of the Bachelor’s Degree in Informatics Engineering (LEI) at Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP), a workshop was held on 3 March for around 300 LEI students.
The session marked the start of the students’ work for the second semester, who will analyse and solve real-world challenges, presented by E-Redes and the AdEPorto - Porto Energy Agency , using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) methodology. The proposed problems focus on Energy Efficiency and Electric Mobility, fostering sustainability and strengthening the link between academia and the business sector.
The workshop aimed to outline the challenges and clarify what will be developed within ANADI, address initial questions, and establish a starting point for the projects to be carried out in collaboration with the companies and their representatives: Bruno Espírito Santo and Nélio Moreira, from E-Redes, and Rui Pimenta, Filipe Dória and Bruno Costa, from the AdEPorto - Porto Energy Agency.
Throughout the semester, students will be supported by a multidisciplinary academic team composed of Professors Jorge Mendonça, Susana Nicola and Teresa Araújo, from the Department of Mathematics, and Professors Ana Madureira (course coordinator), Elsa Gomes, Fátima Rodrigues, Ivo Pereira and Marcelo Nogueira, from the Department of Informatics Engineering.
