As part of the electoral process to select the next President of ISEP, which took place on March 22, Maria João Viamonte was elected to take over the management of the institution for the term extending until 2022. This is the first time a woman is elected for this position at ISEP.
Mrs. Viamonte has been a part of ISEP for more than 20 years as a Professor and researcher as well as in management functions. She was chosen by the ISEP community with 67.6% of the votes (68.4% among teachers, 50.0% among non-teaching staff, and 68, 6% among studentsOn the other hand, the team led by Luís Durão had a total of 26.5%. There were still 4.2% of blank votes and 1.7% of null votes.
Maria João Viamonte has a vast knowledge of the institution, and she believes in the importance of the promotion of the entire ISEP community, showing the will and ambition to bring the Institute up to a position to a position of leadership among the best Engineering schools in Portugal.
