Professor Edwin Gray, from Glasgow Caledonian University, will be lecturing on the 14th June, at 18:00, in the Informatics Engineering Department (room B401), at ISEP. The subject of his lecture is about “Current Issues in Legal, Social, Ethical and Professional Issues (LSEPI) in IT Projects”.

The IT systems are a critical part of our world, in business, public sector and voluntary sector, environments, and are often highly complex and interconnected combinations of technology, organisations and people. This series of lectures aims to present some of the current LSEPI that impact on project success.

The following topics will be covered: What it means to be a professional; The role of professional bodies; Unpacking the LSEPI concepts - Legal issues, different forms of ethics, codes of practice, corporate social responsibility; Ethical issues;  IT poses unique ethical dilemmas; legal jurisdiction; Privacy and Security; Important of privacy in ensuring IT systems success – both corporate & individual issue; IT professionals affected by security both as users and as providers of systems; Interviews with security commentators & professionals; Engaging with debates around privacy; and Daniel Solove’s privacy model.
