Description:

As the COVID-19 pandemic progressed, research on mathematical modeling became imperative and very influential to understand the epidemiological dynamics of disease spreading. With many thousands of mathematical models developed in a record time to assist public health managers during the COVID-1 crises, it has become evident for the whole society that controlling the spread of an infectious disease from a population is a highly challenging task. Dealing with mathematical models applied to infectious diseases of major public health importance, the talks presented in this Session are focused on the development of theoretical methods, modeling and simulation techniques and its practical applications in life sciences, addressing significant mathematica problems and fundamental questions in medicine and biology. This session is expected to generate interest of a wide audience, focused on future research directions of modeling infectious disease transmission dynamics, including the emergency of new pathogens able to cause explosive outbreaks.

Topics:

  • Mathematical Modelling
  • Deterministic Differential Equations applied to infectious diseases
  • Nonlinear Stochastic differential equation
  • Bifurcation and chaos
  • Stability Analysis
  • Disease control interventions:
    • Optimal control
    • Vaccination Control
