As part of the “Agir Local, Pensar Global” (“Act Local, Think Global”) campaign, which started in February 2019, and intending to keep the community informed and committed to the principles of sustainable development, the Instituto Superior de Engenharia do Porto (ISEP) presents the results regarding energy consumption and waste management during the 2024 activity.
That year, ISEP reached a new record, separating 64.5% of the waste produced, reinforcing the institution's commitment to sustainability.
As for the consumption of energy resources, the records indicate 72,231m³ of natural gas, 10,925m³ of water, and 1,761,668 kWh of electricity. Also noteworthy is the production of 5,021 kWh of electricity from photovoltaic sources.
Compared to 2023 data, there was an increase in natural gas consumption, attributed to the need to keep some boilers in continuous operation. Water consumption has also significantly increased due to leaks identified in parts of the older campus network. On the other hand, electricity consumption decreased by 2.5%, reflecting continuous efforts to optimize energy efficiency.
It is noteworthy that 100% of the electricity consumed on campus comes from renewable sources, proven by the respective guarantees of origin.
These results reaffirm ISEP's commitment to sustainability and responsible management of resources, highlighting the importance of a collective and continuous effort by the entire community.
