Project involving a research team from ISEP nominated for the Manuel António da Mota Award
03-09-2020

Researchers are developing a biosensor for the detection of SARS-CoV-2. This portable system will be faster than the technology currently available and will detect the new coronavirus in, approximately, 20 minutes (from sample collection to detection). This new system is also cheaper than the current tests using PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) and will not require healthcare professionals.

The project "Cdots Biosensing COVID19" has just been selected for the Manuel António da Mota Award that, in this 11th edition, will reward institutions that stand out in the fight against the epidemic crisis and its consequences in society.

The investigation involves ISEP, UTAD, REQUIMTE, ICBAS, Centro Hospitalar de Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and the Centro Hospitalar Universitário Cova da Beira.
