announcement of a special issue

"New Trends on Mathematical Modelling and Simulation of Biological Systems

Scientific description of the issue

Mathematical modelling of biological systems and processes is a growing field that makes use of various mathematical models and analysis techniques. This special issue (SI) highlights mathematical and computational approaches, to examine central problems in the biological sciences, ranging from the organizational principles of individual cells to the dynamics of large populations. It will contribute with reference texts for a broad audience of researchers, practitioners, and advanced students, in this rapidly growing field, which encompasses applied mathematics, experimental biology and medicine, computational biology, biochemistry, physics and computer science. Authors are kindly invited to submit their valuable manuscripts to this SI.

Topics:

  • Cellular Biophysics
  • Regulatory Networks
  • Developmental Biology
  • Biomedical Applications
  • Data Analysis and Model Validation
  • Biological systems and bioinformatics
  • Epidemiology
  • Cancer modelling and treatment
  • Evolution and Ecology
  • Immunology
  • Neural Systems and the Brain
  • Innovative Mathematical Methods and Education

Selection of manuscripts will be based on Chaos, Solitons & Fractals’s Peer Review Process. Prospective authors should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the Manuscript Tracking System, and select MMSimBio to submit to this SI.

Instructions for Submission

Authors are encouraged to submit original papers, not published or submitted elsewhere, to a special issue of Chaos, Solitons & Fractals. The submission website for this journal is located at: https://ees.elsevier.com/chaos/default.asp. To ensure that your manuscripts are correctly identified for possible inclusion into the special issue we are editing, it is important that authors select  VSI:MMSimBio when they reach the “Select Article Type” step in the submission process.

The papers should be written in English, carefully checked for correct grammar and spelling. Each paper should clearly indicate the nature of its scientific contribution.

Deadlines

1. Opening date for Submissions: May 1st 2020

2. Closing date for submissions: September 30th 2022

3. Estimate for the end of the reviewing process: January 31st 2023
