Alexandre Costa, professor of the Civil Engineering Department of ISEP, was invited, in February, to participate and teach at the Université Catholique de Louvain, in Belgium, under a program for international teachers.

Alexandre Costa participated as a guest teacher in a class in the course "Matériaux Structuraux et Géomatériaux", where the theme of wood as a structural material and masonry as a constructive typology was addressed.

The professor had also the opportunity to teach in the "Earthquake Engineering" course with the title "Introduction to the seismic behavior of masonry structures". In this class, he talked about the seismic behavior of masonry structures, about the main problems that this type of constructions faces to earthquakes and ways to analyze their behavior. "Bearing in mind that this is the constructive typology with the most seismic vulnerability and so it is imperative to analyze this type of structure, to understand their weaknesses, and then to be able to reinforce the seismic action if necessary", says Alexandre Costa.

Alexandre Costa gave a lecture to the group "Civil and Environmental Engineering (GCE)" and technological platform LEMSC, with experience in the field of Engineering (research and experimentation). In this lecture, with the theme "Traditional and heritage constructions: a continuous increase of knowledge", several lines of ongoing research were presented and the participants discussed potential joint lines of research.
