PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS

 

This course is devoted to the basic concepts of Statistics. It gives students introductory-level practical ability to choose, generate, and properly interpret appropriate descriptive and inferential methods. We will start with an introduction to descriptive statistics, followed by the concept of probability, probability functions, distribution functions. Then, we will review the fundamentals of sampling, estimation, hypothesis testing. We end with linear regression.  In addition, the course will help students gain an appreciation for the diverse applications of statistics and its relevance to their lives and fields of research.  Also it is recommended for anyone who wishes to develop the ability to intelligently evaluate published statistical data.
To do the activities,  students need to install the open source R software.
