numerical methods

Principal

This course is devoted to numerical analysis.

A large variety of real world problems cannot be solved analytically. These complex systems need to be dealt approximately. In this sense, engineers, mathematicians, financiers, need numerical tools, based upon heavy computational mathematics, to be able to understand the dynamics of those systems and to predict future behavior.

In this course, we will start by an overview of error theory and approximations. This is followed by numerical methods to approximate the solutions of linear and nonlinear systems of equations. Polynomial interpolation and numerical integration are the next two topics. We end with the numerical solution of algebraic equations.
