Maria Pla - "GIS and BIM for large urban areas - the ICGC experience"

 

Maria Pla has a degree in Applied Mathematics and Analysis from the University of Barcelona. She joined the Institut Cartogràfic i Geològic de Catalunya (ICGC) in 1984, and currently she is the head of the Vector Databases Department. She coordinates the tasks related to datamodeling, workflows design, software implementation, data production and data quality analysis for 3D topographic databases at large scales, and also products derivation applying generalization. She coordinates the production of thematic databases as the land cover and the addresses databases. Elevation models and city modeling, in relation to the 3D topographic data produced by ICGC, are also included in her tasks. Since 2016 she is participating in BIM commissions and activities in the area of Catalonia, and in European and international projects, mainly related to the integration and interoperability between GIS and BIM data.
